These magical and historical gardens that where uncovered around 25yrs ago are a must visit. Part of the 200 acre Heligan estate there is plenty to see and do from pleasurable grounds, productive walled gardens, the jungle valley too wildlife and woodland walks (where you can visit the giants, picture left). There are plenty of facilities here including kitchen and bakery and local produce store and is a great day out for all ages. From Portscatho the gardens are a 30minute drive by car.
A short 20 minute drive from Portscatho across the King Harry Ferry are the lovely gardens at Trelisssk house. A national trust run garden in a tranquil location with great views over the surrounding waterways. There is a great selection of tender and exotic plants. Further to this the wider countryside offers 5 miles of dog-friendly parkland, woodland and waterside walks, plus a beach for paddling and skimming stones.
One of the most well known visitor attractions in Cornwall this spectacular project in a disused quarry is made up of giant biomes housing thousands of exotic plants, there are few other places in the UK you can experience a rainforest! Set amongst beautiful gardens and with lots of indoor entertainment and places to eat it is great for a family day out. This attraction is 45 minutes by car from Portscatho.
